Reopening update for Thursday, 5th November 2020
We will be open to years 8, 10 and 11 on Thursday, 5th November
Staffing levels have recovered to the point where year 10 students can now return alongside years 8 and 11 on Thursday, 5th November.
We expect to welcome all year groups back on Friday, 6th November as years 7 and 9 leave self-isolation.
Please read the following carefully so that we can hopefully avoid any misunderstanding.
Our staffing levels dictate if we can have all year groups back. There is every possibility that more staff may have to self-isolate and at one point this week, we were missing twenty-six members of staff across teachers, pastoral support and our administrative team.
This may mean that sometimes your child is in for a day, but not the next day, then in again after that. We are waiting for guidance from the Department for Education on rumoured "rota" systems but this guidance has yet to emerge.
If there is a positive case, a year group will have to self-isolate for a day whilst we do contact tracing, then most students should be able to return the day after.
This "hokey-cokey" for students and families is far from ideal. However, we have to make sure that we are following all guidance from Public Health England and all decisions around partial closures are discussed with our new CEO, Mark Mountcastle and with our Chair of Governors, Bob Berry. These are not decisions taken in isolation.
I would like to finish today's updates by asking for your prayers for some of our school staff who are quite ill at this point in time - we will keep you in our prayers.
Yours in Christ
