Internal school day timing change

Some changes to the internal school day only - start and end times unaffected

Dear Parent/Carer,

The end of term is upon us and our preparations for January are as complete as they can be.  We await further announcements from the Department for Education (which we will communicate to you as soon as we know more) around schools providing testing on site, rumoured extended remote learning and so on.  These announcements tend to come very late from the DfE.

We have an update on the school day for January onwards.  We are packing a huge amount into our form time in the morning, and there hasn't been quite enough time to get through everything that we want to what with ePraise point reviews, form time reading, morning worship and so on.  In addition, we want to bring back hot food at breaktime in the canteen which worked well in our trial last week (with remote serving for one year group on the yard), and our phased release at the end of the day is causing something of a bottleneck as students wait for siblings at the gate and therefore needs a tweak.

The start and end of the school day remains the same - the only change is removing ten minutes from the phased release, adding it to form time instead.

08:30 – line up on yard

08:40 – 09:10 – form time

09:10 – 10:10 – lesson 1

10:10 – 11:10 – lesson 2

11:10 – 11:30 – break (with hot food served once more!)

11:30 – 12:30 – lesson 3

12:30 -13:30 – period 4a

(12:30 – 13:00 – lunch for year 7 and 9)

13:00 – 14:00 – lesson 4b

(13:30 – 14:00 – lunch for years 8, 10 and 11)

14:00 – 15:00 – lesson 5

15:00 – key stage 3 released (years 7, 8 and 9)

15:05 – key stage 4 released (years 10 and 11)

This is effective 7th January onwards.

Yours in Christ
