Update on January staggered return

This affects Thursday 7th and Friday 8th January

Dear Parent/Carer,

Late yesterday afternoon, the Department for Education decided to release an update about returning in January.  This is extremely late notice from them, but we have to react accordingly just the same.

On Thursday 7th January and Friday 8th January, the school will only be open to the following students:

  • Year 11 students - all
  • Students who were previously invited into school during the first lockdown between March 23rd and July 2020 (Key worker children and vulnerable children).  If your child was originally invited in over that lockdown period, then they are also welcome on those two days

All other students must remain at home on those two days and remote learning will be provided on Microsoft Teams as best we can.

All students will then return on Monday, 11th January 2020 as normal.

Secondary schools are being asked to set up testing centres from January on site - once we have further information around this, we will contact you to let you know arrangements but again, information around this only emerged yesterday afternoon.

This is very short notice from the Secretary of State for Education, Gavin Williamson and not the final message that I wanted to send before Christmas - the release can be read here.

My best wishes for the break ahead.

Yours in Christ

Dan Wright
