Timothy 2 verses 2:5
‘Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules.’
Curriculum Intent Statement
PE is a vital part of school life and ultimately, our student’s future wellbeing. It is therefore our intent to equip our students with the knowledge and skills to lead healthy, active lifestyles, physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. By providing an inclusive, broad and challenging curriculum, we ensure that all students learn in an environment of mutual respect and freedom to be creative, so they can develop a love for physical activity
Students have access to after school clubs and we attend fixtures within the borough in a variety of sports. We offer trips to professional sports matches as well as hosting guest speakers from the world of sport. We strive to provide memorable experiences throughout a student’s journey within Physical Education and preparing them for the world of work.
We encourage every child to embody the school's SACRED values though the P.E Curriculum. Firstly, Service, presenting themselves, their form or their school in sporting events. We promote Ambition to succeed and to improve in being the best that they can be, through offering a variety of sports and a range of roles to play in sport. Our students are encouraged to show Compassion when participating and officiating in sport; good sporting etiquette and teamwork run throughout our lessons. Students have the opportunity to take responsibility in their lessons e.g. as a coach but ultimately, we hope to instil in our students that they are responsible for their own health and fitness. Equality is highly valued in PE, we build upon students’ ability to understand and demonstrate fair play, equality and what it means to be a good citizen. Another key value promoted in all PE lessons is Determination, we instil in our pupils the drive to be the best they can be in achieving their own personal bests.
